Bégayer (FRA)

Bégayer are Loup Uberto : voice, lutes, begena, bagpipes, Alexis Vinéïs on drums, percussion (sati, qraqeb, gardon), Lucas Ravinale using voice, begena, tamburelli, sound objects, Jean-Philippe Curtelin playing drums, percussion (surdo, sati, qraqeb, gardon), and Etienne Foyer doing sound, spatialization.

The band started as a trio, with improv and direct-to-tape recordings till they found home in the Parisian Le Saule label. With a roof above their head, they focused for a year on their debut album.

On a mission to create “a so far unknown genre od hybrid gypsy rahpsody” with the help of French Chanson, Noise, echoes of music from faraway and long ago, modified radio transistors and other old electronic gear, and we wish them all the luck.

Now, operating as a quintet, the band started working towards a new kind of concert: a ceremony with no beginning and no end in which concert-time and quotidian time merge in order to deliberately drain of any autonomy the temporality of performance.
