Žen (CRO)

Progressive indie rock band ŽEN started in 2010 in Zagreb where they’ve found their creative home at the AKC Medika squat in Zagreb. Their debut album "I onda je sve počelo" (2013) was released under the queer feminist label Unrecords from Vienna, while their second album "Jantar" (2015) was created in collaboration with Unrecords and the French independent label Vox Project. In 2017, they joined the Slovenian label Moonlee Records, under which they released their third album "Sunčani ljudi" in November of the same year.

With each subsequent album, they firmly positioned themselves as one of the most prominent bands in the region, and in 2024 they released their long-awaited fourth studio album "Ciklus," the first recorded in their own Tralala studio. The album was well received by both the audience and critics, resulting in a sold-out concert in Zagreb and high positions on regional music charts. In December of the same year, they released their first live album titled "La Futourrr," recorded during their European tour.

ŽEN has performed at many major European festivals (Eurosonic, Europavox, Colours of Ostrava, Tallinn Music Week, INmusic, Welcome to the Village...) and clubs from the Baltics to the Balkans. In 2020, they released a compilation album "Blender" with remixes of their songs by various music producers. Their music has been used in several regional films and TV series, and they also recorded the song "Mnogi" for the movie "Nun of Your Business."

ŽEN has developed a distinctive sound that combines elements of post-rock, shoegaze, prog and indie rock, as well as neo-psychedelia. Their music is powerful and loud, while also atmospheric and meditative, creating an innovative sonic landscape that completely engulfs the listener.
